The Electro-gun has been successfully used since 1979 as a spot treatment to eliminate visible infestations of drywood termites. Combining high voltage and high frequency the device allows electric current to penetrate wood and flow into the galleries (colonies) and nests of drywood termites killing them by electrical shock. 
It can be used on expensive finished open-beamed ceilings, furniture and built-ins where the drill and treat method might make holes that would disfigure the finish. Because this system uses pulsating current it will not burn the treated wood.
